The Infirmary at DPS- Bangalore North has a medical team consisting of Dr Vijaya Prabha and Dr Bindhya R James, Staff Nurses Mrs. Uma Nair, Mrs. Anu Kurien and Mrs. Manju K G who work tirelessly to meet the medical needs of the school. Every day on an average, the infirmary staff attends to around 150 patients and provides first aid and essential Medicare.
In collaboration with Amelio Medicorp, an annual health check up was conducted for the entire staff of the school between 25th and 27th of March 2013.
During hobby classes topics like basic First aid, Nutrition, Infectious diseases, Health and hygiene are taught by Dr Vijaya Prabha and Dr Bindhya for the students of classes IX and X.
To improve the sanitation and maintain good health status, the school management has sponsored free typhoid vaccination for the canteen, housekeeping and support staff of our school.
On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, a special session on Tuberculosis awareness was conducted by Dr Vijaya Prabha for class XII students to give them the right information about the disease.
A special assembly on Dengue Fever Awareness was conducted for students of classes VI to XII. A special assembly on Health and Hygiene was also conducted for students of classes II and III. The importance of proper garbage disposal was discussed with the students.
Height and Weight of students are taken annually to monitor their growth. Awareness about health, nutrition and hygienic habits with audio visuals were conducted for classes I, II and III by the infirmary team.
During Inter DPS Infirmary staff meet at Bangalore North, Dr Srikanth from Apollo Hospital conducted a seminar on handling medical emergencies in schools. Infirmary Staff from DPS North, South, East and Mysore attended this program.
Dr Manju Chacko from Bangalore Baptist Hospital conducted a workshop for the infirmary staff of all the three schools on Quality checking of the working status of Hospitals and Clinics.
